THIS WINTER, ESCAPE TO SAN JOSE, THE HEART OF COSTA RICA.
This Intersession program is a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to gain cultural insight while choosing to build Spanish language skills and/or taking a course in geology to to learn about the geological features present in Costa Rica. Students receive the ultimate immersion experience in host families  while they live and breathe the life of the ticos.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
$1,995 program fee + $100 registration fee

COURSES OFFERED:​
CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH 210 (3 UNITS)

Prerequisite: Spanish 102
Taught by SDMC Professor, Dora Schoenbrun-Fernandez. 

CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH 211 (3 UNITS)

Prerequisite: Spanish 210
Taught by SDMC Professor, Dora Schoenbrun-Fernandez.



Classes take place Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM

​Geology 100 from 1:00 PM to 4:15 PM. 
Planned cultural and academic excursions or activities may substitute class time. 


PROGRAM FEE INCLUDES:

  • Airport pick-up on arrival day (during the established timeframe, approximately 9:00-6:00 PM)
  • Classroom onsite
  • Use of facilities at the Universidad de Costa Rica, such as the library.
  • Lodging in a single room in a Costa Rican host family
  • Two meals per day, breakfast and dinner
  • Pre-departure services from MLSA
  • On-site orientation
  • Walking tour of campus
  • The following activities and excursions:  
  • Walking Tour of Downtown San Jose
  • Visit to the Jade Museum in San Jose
  • Community Service Day
  • Vulcanological / Sesmological Conference (subject to availability)
  • Excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park
  • Excursion to Volcano Irazu with visit to Cartago (weekday during class)
  • Excursion to coffee plantation (weekday during class)
  • Logistics planned for optional excursions, additional fee applies
  • 24/7 MLSA staff on-site
  • Return transportation only arranged for students leaving as a group at a pre-determined time.


NOT INCLUDED:

  • Non-refundable $100 registration fee to MLSA
  • San Diego Mesa College tuition
  • Books
  • Round-trip airfare
