GRADUATE – UNDERGRADUATE CREDITS
Students can receive 3 credits for the 2-week program and 6 credits for the 4-week program; graduate or undergraduate courses/credits are available during the summer programs. Students can take courses for credit or non-credit. The fee will be the same. The number of credits will depend on the length of the program you select and the number of hours you will be in class. MLSA will help you with the selection of courses, transfer of credits, transcripts, and all academic aspects of the program.
TEXTBOOKS
Students will purchase all the textbooks the first day of class in the University. You should plan to spend approximately $25-30.
CLASSES CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:Undergraduate, 6 semester hours of credit: 90 classroom contact hours. The daily schedule is from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday. FRENCH 101-102 BEGINNING FRENCHFirst and second semester of French for students without any previous study of the French language, or for students who want to start the study of the French language from the beginning. FRENCH 203-204 INTERMEDIATE FRENCH Third and fourth semester of French. Two intermediate courses designed for those students who want to improve the skills they have already acquired in the first two French courses. Beginning 101-102 are required to take these courses. FRENCH 301-302 ADVANCED FRENCH Undergraduate third year of French. Two advanced courses designed for students who want to consolidate the knowledge of the French language. Beginning and Intermediate, or the equivalent, are required—or permission of the instructor. OR CHOOSE TWO OF THE FOLLOWING:Undergraduate, 3 semester hours of credit: 45 classroom contact hours. . 8:30 am to 10:30 am or 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday. FRENCH 315, FRENCH COMPOSITION IPrerequisite: French 204, fourth semester of college/ equivalent, or instructor approval.Students should have a good knowledge of French grammar. The essentials of French grammar as applied in composition are studied. FRENCH 320, FRENCH CONVERSATION IPrerequisite: French 204, fourth semester of college/ equivalent, or instructor approval.Intensive practice in conversation. Pattern practice, preparation, and delivery of dialogues and topical talks. Basic phonetics and practice in pronunciation. 8:30 am to 10:30 am or 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday. FRENCH 430 INTRODUCTION TO FRENCH CULTURE AND CIVILIZATIONUndergraduate 3 semester hours of credit: 45 classroom contact hours. Prerequisite: Conversation and Composition or equivalent.Development of the cultural life of the French people as reflected in architecture, art history, literature, music, and philosophy FRENCH 450 INTRODUCTION TO FRENCH LITERATUREUndergraduate 3 semester hours of credit. 45 classroom contact hours. Introduction to the periods of French literature from the beginning to the present. FRENCH 530-1 TOPICS ON FRENCH CULTURE AND SOCIETYGraduate 3 semester hours of credit 45 classroom contact hours.French culture with emphasis on the significant development of the arts, and society. FRENCH 530-2 DIFFERENT TOPICS ON FRENCH CULTUREAND SOCIETYGraduate (ungraduate students with approval from their instructor/advisor) 3 semester hours of credit 45 classroom contact hours.
